Job Title: Front-End Developer
Reports To: Senior Software Engineer
OneHope is looking for a front-end developer to help create engaging applications and tools to serve our team members on the front lines of changing the lives of youth and children around the world. The developer will work with the applications development team to implement responsive and efficient web-based solutions that will meet the administrative needs of a dynamic ministry environment. This will also involve a passion for innovative solutions, our organizational mission, and serving others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of OneHope and faithfully upholds OneHope ministry in prayer.
Develop, extend and maintain one or more web-based user interface systems based on requirements and designs
Assist with user experience/user interface design
Assist with the development of use cases, requirements, and solutions based on time spent in discussion with stakeholders
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and testing
Identify and address design deficiencies and performance improvements
Assist with technology choices and the establishment of user interface standards
Implement and/or maintain API systems as needed
Contribute and adhere to development standards
Participate in mutual code reviews
Effectively prioritize sometimes competing responsibilities while consistently deliver high-quality results
Proactively seek to expand knowledge, experience, and working relationships
Understand the organization's structure, business processes, and systems, and how they interrelate to provide value for managers and associates
Participate in meetings with various departments to help identify needs, analyze business processes and develop requirements
Participate in meetings with project team to establish priorities, review assignments, and discuss requests and issues
Associates degree in computer science or a related field; bachelor degree preferred
5+ years in the software engineering field with experience in enterprise system development.
Strong experience with HTML5 and CSS3.
Understanding of cross-browser compatibility and web standards
Experience programming against APIs via REST in a single page application environment
Some experience in UX/UI design
Some experience using Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent relational DBMS
Some experience designing and building systems using object-oriented design patterns
Basic familiarity with development methodologies, including Agile
Strong communication and team skills
Good work discipline and self-motivated; ability to ensure thorough completion of a solution with minimal oversight
Detail oriented; ability to identify and address minor design or implementation issues
Basic understanding of non-profit organizations
Must be able to sit for long periods and use computer keyboard and/or mouse while viewing a computer screen. Must be willing to work after hours on occasion. Occasional travel may be required. On site work is preferred.
Workweek / hours of work
This is a full-time salaried (exempt) position based on a 40-hour workweek.
